April 1

We celebrated St. Stupid's Day by walking the stations of St. Stupid.

April 1

Afterword, we went with Zippy to ask about reinstating the Zippy the Pinhead comic strip.

April 2

I made another hat. The red one is old. The green one is new.

April 3

I made lemonade from the Meyers lemons in my garden.

April 4

This is a giant snail in my garden.

April 5

It's fence-painting time!

April 6

My garden is blooming.

April 7

We did a walk around Russian Hill.

April 9

This is the cat.

April 9

The fence is painted!

April 10

For Easter, we decided to do a Bunny BBQ & roast some rabbits. These are the rabbits about to be put into the marinade.

I also made two loaves of sourdough bread, one loaf of herb (rosemary, garlic, oregano) bread, one lemon pie, spinach dip, BBQ sauce and topped a half box of strawberries from the Farmer's Market.

April 11

In case the Bunny BBQ wasn't offensive enough, we did a Jesus bar crawl. I don't do a very good Jesus so I did Santa, instead. Remember the South Park episode where Jesus & Santa were fighting? We're getting along much better now.

This picture was taken at Zeitgeist. I'd borrowed one of the crosses. I also borrowed the bunny head.

April 12

While this may look like a little sweater, it's actually a first attempt at a tissue box cosy. This version didn't work very well.

April 13

But this version did. Now I have a very fuzzy tissue box cosy.

April 13

We did a cocktail party on an abandoned freeway on ramp.

This is a lemon drop made with lemon juice from the trees in my garden.

April 14

My garden is blooming. This is purple columbine.

April 15

This is a theater in San Francisco. The wires overhead are from the street cars. We were waiting for the bus to take us home so I could get in the car & drive to my hospice shift.

April 16

This is the ultimate golf bag ready for a round of urban golf.

April 17

Urban golf was still fun this year, although the frat boy element was too strong for my taste.

April 18

I was driving home on the Bay Bridge when I noticed this amazing shade of grey. Yes, my life is dull. I am amazed by a shade of grey.

Actually, this is part of why I started doing this daily -photo thing. I wanted to encourage myself to notice more beauty ine world around me. I know it's there. I just don't always see it. The assignment worked! Instead of a dul, dreary drive across the Bay Bridge, I got to appreciate grey.

April 19

Kitty & the oven mitt, on top of the dishwasher.

April 20
April 21

My garden is blooming. It must be spring.

April 21

We went to Berkeley to an art show. We walked to the BART station, past several concrete gardens like this one. In San Francisco, people don't mow their front yards. They sweep them!

April 22

I'm making oven mittens. These two will be put inside each other and then felted.

April 23

I made a red pepper fritatta. These are the peppers being sauteed.

April 23

This is after adding eggs & cheese.

April 24

We went to a party. I saw this tree growing out of the edge of a retaining wall. I am often amazed by the strength and tenacity of trees.

I baked a loaf of sourdough olive bread, sourdough with kalemeta olives. It came out quite well, although not as sour as I would have liked. I think my starter is tending to too much liquid. I'll add more flour to it.

The next time I do this olive-sourdough bread, I think I should add some salt (big chunks) to the top.

April 25

Here are my oven mitts before they go into the washing machine.

April 26

This is the Alemany Vortex at night.

San Francisco is having heat wave. This makes for pleasant evening/nighttime walks.

April 27

These are flowers from my garden.

April 28

oh, judgemental mind...I was at an ice cream shop last night (first time in..well, since I can't remember the last time I bought ice cream, I guess it's been a while. It's been hot here recently. This evening was no exception. Plus I'd made some homemade pesto with too much garlic & I needed something heavy on the dairy to settle my stomach). the judgemental mind part: also in the ice cream store was a woman with her two obese, hyperactive children. I wondered (but did not express outloud) how much these children really needed ice cream?

I also baked a loaf of whole wheat sour dough bread today. I have white sour dough down. Whole wheat is much more difficult. It didn't work. How do I know this? A comment from the first eater of the bread: "It's more like a cracker."

We took a walk through Chinatown & the Filbert Street steps.

April 29

I'm making oven mitts. They are being blocked over some plastic drink cups.

April 30

We took a walk to and through McClaren Park.
