This is over 400 pounds of steel shelving in my Honda del Sol. Yes, I know this exceeds the recommended weight limits on this car. |

This is one of those nights when I realized I hadn't taken a photo so I chased the cat with the camera, hoping to catch her doing something photogenic. I don't know if this is photogenic or cute. It's kinda funny looking to me. . She was probably just annoyed at me for chasing her with the camera. |

Three pictures for today... This is a mutant tomato out of my garden. |

This is a friend's house where we went for an amazing dinner. |

| September 4
I've been playing with long exposure times on my camera. This is a 15 second exposure of the Golden Gate Bridge and Baker Beach. Today's cooking: pesto, hummus, babba ganoush (sp?) pita bread and a peach/strawberry smoothie. I also put some sourdough bread out to rise. However, I ran out of white flour. I added some rye and whole wheat flour. This might be interesting bread. |
|
| September 5
We took a walk around the Albany Bulb. The sourdough bread I put out to rise yesterday worked out fine. The rye added an extra tang. I may add rye to my sourdough on a regular basis. My starter is getting strong enough that maybe I will even try some 100% whole wheat again. The last time I tried whole wheat sourdough, the result resembled a doorstop. After an East Bay dinner, we stopped by Safeway on the way home. We tried to buy ice cream. However, San Francisco is having a heat wave. The ice cream section was mostly empty. Today's cooking: bruschetta with tomatoes from my garden. |

| September 6
I am playing some more with the manual settings and long exposure times on my camera. This is a 15 second exposure from the top of Bernal Hill at night. Here are some more pictures from Bernal Hill. Today's cooking: banana bread, fruit salad, vegie egg scramble, strawberry/peach smoothie, mango salsa, peppered beef over spinach |

| September 7
This is NOT a long exposure. This is sunrise over Holly Park in Bernal Heights. |
|
| September 8
"It isn't bad" was the comment on my new haircut. |

I went to my hospice shift tonight. I'm thinking about hands today. I'm thinking about doing a series of photos of hands. My hands are kinda strange. Several times in the last few months, I've had people tell me I have abnormally small wrists. My left hand has two pins in it. |
|
| September 10
Today's cooking: buckwheat bread, banana bread, stuffed eggplant with a bunch of sauteed summer vegies including roasted tomatoes from my garden, rosemary/lemon salmon with capers and blueberry muffins that ended up being much too sweet. After the morning walk up Bernal Hill to watch the sunrise, I had a craving for muffins. I need a new recipe. The one I have is mostly sugar. I also put some sourdough bread out to rise overnight. Here it is Friday night. I'm sitting home knitting while the bread bakes. |

| Missed Picture | September 11
I just realized that July is gone. This is the first July that the cat hasn't brought me a snake. Tonight is a post-wedding bachelorette party. Or something. I don't know what to call it. She's no longer a bachelorette so that title isn't right. It's a post-wedding girl gathering, something for which I do not have a snappy label. Today's cooking: mango salsa, tomato salsa, chimmee churree sauce, sourdough bread, roasted vegies |
| September 12
This is another lazy Sunday. I cooked: garlic oil, garlic bread crumbs, roasted stuffed portabello mushrooms, pesto, vegie soup stock It seems I know a lot of people who are keeping blogs. I wonder why. I guess this site might almost be considered a blog although my motivation for taking pictures and posting them isn't about trying to document my life. I have no idea if anyone even sees these pages. Who are you? |

| September 12
This is onions & tomatoes. Of course, now I don't remember what I was making. If it was onions & tomatoes (out of my garden) it has to have been good. |

This is Kitty surveying the world. Kitty functions as an alarm clock. Unfortunately, she goes off at 5am. She can't be reset and she doesn't have a snooze button. |

| September 14
We went to see SUBHuman, Ed Holmes' one man show about his time in a submarine. This is a butterfly with the passion flower vine in my garden. I took a series of photos of this butterfly and the passion flower. |
|
| September 15
This picture is actually from September 14. This is a view from the garden at Wild Side West, my fav bar garden. Today's cooking: gazpacho, brown rice tart with roasted tomatoes (from my garden), liquid bread from the Brother Juniper bread book |
|
| September 16
The cookbook said this recipe would make brussels sprouts not taste like brussels sprouts. The cookbook was wrong. |

The cat likes to sit on the bathroom sink. |

During the day, I went to my Buddhist study group. Later, I met up with the Urban Golf crowd. This event is getting too popular for its own good. Over 150 balls were sold at this round. This is too many people to run a game of urban golf without attracting police attention. This guy really got into the spirit. That's a plastic golf figurine, a styrofoam ball and something green on his head. |

| September 19
We did a walk around the neighborhood looking at open houses. We found this car missing something. The engine was sitting in the bed of the truck's bed. |

| September 20
This is a minibar I got on eBay. I'd never received the last one I'd bought. Between now and then, demand has gone down. The last one cost me $20 and I was lucky to get it for that. This one was $6. I was the only bidder. Now I want to have a mini-bar party to try out my new mini-bar. Maybe next full moon, we can do a trek up Bernal Hill. On other topics, this had me laughing out loud. I think it's the perfect way to deal with subway preachers. Unfortunately, I only sing under the influence of large quantities of alcohol. Even then, I only know a couple songs and none of them would play on Broadway. |

This is my garden. |
|
| September 22
I spent much of the day in the South Bay. In the evening, we walked up the hill where I saw this plant. My hat (but not my hand) is in the picture to show how big this thing is. |
|
| September 22
We picked up sandwiches and took them to the Wild Side West garden. This is the best bar garden ever. It has everything, including a sink and a tombstone. |
|
| September 23
This is a zucchini plant in my garden. My hand is in the picture for scale. I didn't plant this. The plant is growing out of the compost bin. I have a geek question for today. What's the correct spelling? Purl, perl or pearl? The answer determine what kind of geek you are. The answers: knitting, computer, not a geek. I went to my hospice shift tonight. |
|
| September 24
I have a new project. I'm going to combine my interest in encryption with knitting and knit something like a scarf with my pgp key embedded into the patttern. The details are still becoming clear. I'm not sure exactly what this project will look like. I'm turning into Madame Defarge but without the murderous revenge streak. |

| September 25
I started the morning at the Farmer's Market. Then I went to the Mayor's Town Hall meeting. Then I came home, got my sourdough bread out of the oven, baked angel food cake cupcakes, made hummus & tabouli and then went to a going-away BBQ for a friend. Sandwich Girl is going back to Antarctica. Her new job in Antarctica? Sandwich Girl will be making Sandwiches. Of course we had sandwiches for Sandwich Girl. We made her a special Peanut Butter and bologna sandwich on Wonderbread which she, being a vegetarian, declined to eat. We also made s'mores over the grill. These are the best kind of sandwiches: warm marshmallow, chocolate and graham crackers. |
|
| September 25
This is the power plant from the park. While I had the camera sitting on a bench, it still jiggled which is why the image is blurry. This is a 15 second exposure. The BBQ was at Warm Water Cove Park. We call it Toxic Tire Beach because of the nearby power plant and large quantities of garbage. It's a scenic park, if you like views of abandoned Muni buses and other decaying industrial sights. I took a bunch of photos which will be posted here soon. |

This is my left hand. I may be turning into a fan of musical movies. I've never liked musicals but recently I've been on a Bollywood kick. I also watched the movie version of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. This was a rather bizarre movie. Donny Osmond gets seduced by Joan Collins. That sounds like the plot for a strange late night movie. Instead, it's a biblical story and it's a musical. This is one of the more bizarre movies I've seen recently. How many movies have Donny Osmond saying to Joan Collins "I don't believe in free love!" This is before the psychadelic song, "Go Go Joseph", before the western ballad, and before the Elvis impersonation. The weird thing is that it all seemed to work. |

Somehow, I'd never noticed this Jesus head in a 'garden' near my house. I think it's probably been here for a while. It's on a street where I usually don't walk. This is going into my gallery of the Concrete Gardens of San Francisco. |
|
| September 28
This is a fuschia blossom on my garden. |
|
| September 29
This is a concrete garden. San Francisco has a lot of these. I'm making a collection of photos of concrete gardens in San Francisco. Other regions have to mow their front yards. In San Francisco, we sweep. I saw this one while walking to my knitting group. After watching Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. , I have a piece of a song stuck in my head: "I look handsome, I look smart, I'm a walking work of art" I think it's time to watch a Disney movie or something with catchy lyrics so I can displace this silly rhyme from my short term memory. |
|
| September 30
I took this photo of yarn to fill in some of the blank spots on the header on my knitting pages. Today was a hospice day. I watched pieces of the presidential debates with some demented people. I think this is the best way to experience American politics as filtered through mainstream media. I watched most of the debate without sound. I just found this clip showing W's visible frustration to Kerry making sense. |
