There is something about 'trees' like this that I find horrifying. Trees shouldn't be this ordered. Trees are living creatures. I think there is something wrong with forcing a plant into a particular shape like this. Then again, I know these trees have been bred to look like this. I wonder...if someone likes the orderly look of this kind of tree, why don't they juse install a hunk of green plastic? Why do this with a tree?

Part of my neighborhood is getting the power lines put underground. This is a major project in an urban area.

Still, there are flowers. I guess it is that time of year.

We came for stairs. We found stairs.

This greenhouse has seen better days. I guess it will be torn down at some point. I'll bet it will be replaced with expensive housing.

This is one of the coots. There is a pair of coots in this pond. They are trying to guard a nest against the malign influence of a whole bunck of mallards and other ducks.

This is where the coots are trying to build their nest.

This is a water tower that I've seen from the freeway but had never seen up close...until now.

This being a stairwalk, we found more stairs.

This isn't actually McLaren Park. This is closer to St. Mary's Park. This is one of San Francisco's concrete gardens.

I just don't understand the appeal of painting the concrete green and adding concrete figures. Why not do a real garden? Well, I guess different people have different tastes. This approach is low maintenance and it is interesting enough that someone (me) stops to take pictures.
