Russian Hill (again)

We took a City Guides walk around Russian Hill.

This is supposed to be the steepest street in San Francisco. I think it's actually tied with a section of 22nd Street.

I like these bird houses.

This is the view from the top of the very steep hill.

This is a fireboat spraying water into the Bay.

These are the wild parrots.

This is a house off Macondry Lane. I don't think I would like to live here. It would be like living in a cave or at the bottom of tall canyon.

This is the beginning of the charming part of Macondry Lane.

We had a beautiful day for our walk. That's Alcatraz in the distance

This is another house on Macondry Lane.

This is a big old Queen Anne House that I could never afford. Despite being sold for several million dollars, the house has no garage.

This is the base of the stairs to Russian Hill Place.

This is the top of the stairs near the start of Russian Hill Place.

This is the end of another stairway, above Ina Coolbrith park.

The view from Ina Coolbrith park is one of my favorites.

These are two houses designed by Polk on Russian Hill.

This house was designed by the same man who did the Carson Mansion in Eureka. I think the Carson Mansion is much more impressive.
2004.10.09_11.41.35
This is one of the Octogon Houses.
2004.10.09_11.42.16
The Octogon House has special tile on the sidewalk.

We stopped by Union Square on the way home. I was dismayed to find Christmas stuff. It's the middle of October! This is too soon for the Christmas holiday spending orgy to begin.
