Boron, California

We went on an unusual road trip on vacation. Boron, California was one of the stops.

Someone has a thing about trucks so we had to go visit the giant yellow truck. I will agree that this thing is a monster.

It had a little red friend.

This is a place where I wanted to eat just to say I'd been there. Unfortunately, it was closed. I don't know if this was permanent or if we might have been able to get something to eat if we had been willing to wait until the Boron tourist season kicks in.

I admit it. We went on vacation to Boron. We also left.

This is part of the museum where not everything had something to do with mining. I suspect a lot of the rusting equipment in the yard was there just because it was a convenient place to leave it, not because the tool had anything to do with mining.

This was a device for drilling into rocks.

I think the models add a nice touch to the museum display.

This is a model of the famous 20 Mule Team which hauled borax and other minerals around the west. This idea has inspired me to knit 20 penguins. I don't know that I will actually do it but I do like the idea of it.

There was a space museum next door to the mining museum.
