December 4
I made Turkish bread. This was to eat while we watched the DVD of Guns, Germs & Steel. With people coming over, I was asked why I wasn't cooking up a storm. I replied that I'd already made three loaves of bread (one Turkish, two banana)that day. This seemed like enough cooking.

I'm one of a very few people who actually enjoy the morning commute. This is actually a very pleasant way to spend a morning. I get to ride a trazin, watch the sunrise and drink my tea. I like my commute.

December 10
Got a suggestion for a provider of downloadable audio books? I've been subscribed to Audible but their new website is unusable. I'm on a DSL connection and it takes multiple minutes to bring up the home page. Two of the last three items I just purchased can't be downloaded. (silent failure or something about audio file can't be prepared). When I tried to send a query to support, that timed out, too.
I'm looking for a new service, one that has a website that can be used to browse and search without waiting multiple minutes for the screen to refresh. It would also be nice if I could actually download the items I purchased. Maybe it's a temporary problem but I have no way of knowing since the Support email times out. I have no way of knowing if my question made it into the queue or not. I guess I could try calling but I'd rather not spend my Saturday morning navigating a customer support phone tree or being on hold.
I'm looking for somethng with a large inventory of non-fiction, reasonably priced, easily browsable (itunes loses here and the new audible web site can't return a result in under 3 minutes which makes it unusable).
I just timed it. Loading the front page of audible.com took two minutes, 58 seconds. That isn't a usable web site.

December 11
After three days, Audible sent me an email telling me to read the FAQ. This does nothing to solve the problem. I still cannot download 2 of the 3 items I purchased. I'll give them until the end of the week to fix it and then do a chargeback with my credit card. Meanwhile, I search for a better place to buy audio books.

December 13
Audible sent me another automated response suggesting I read their FAQ. That doesn't help.

December 16
People in the South seem to be fond of smoking at gas stations. Close to half of the gas stations we visited had someone smoking at the pump.

I don't do Christmas but this year, I got myself into a deadline knitting project where I had several knitted projects to finish. I didn't make it. One recipient got one mitten. Since she has two hands, I finished the second mitten which will go into the mail.

December 31
In another month, I'll have many lemons.
Today, I roasted a turkey. I made stuffing after baking loaf of bread. The cranberry sauce turned out quite well. I boiled frozen cranberries, water, sugar and a slice of pineapple. I know this is supposed to take an apple but I didn't have an apple. I did have pineapple (from a roasted pineapple salsa that is still in progress) so I used that, instead.
