I'd never thought of sweet peas as being particularly photogenic until I discovered macro. I plant them because they smell good. Just a couple blooms can affect an entire room.
I heard a crash and it was another wreck outside my house. This time, both cars tried to get around a bus. The toy truck hit the SUV. I think they both ran the stop sign and didn't see each other because they were trying to get around the bus which was stopped at the stop sign, letting people off the bus. The SUV was towed away on a flat bed.
The intersection outside my house is a bad one.

My gladiolas are blooming, As usual, the purple ones are the first ones out.
We went to a book signing for someone we know. The book signing was in a very fancy bar, filled with people who were there to see and be seen. I turned to my companion, "why are we here?" Our kind of place is more the dive bar down the street where people will make eye contact with each other and have actual conversations instead of constantly looking around the room for someone more important.
Oh, the book? "Party Like a Rock Star:Even When You're Poor as Dirt."

This is a rose in my garden.
We watched Fight Club tonight. I only rented it because of the book author's reputation. This isn't a movie I would have otherwise watched. I was surprised to hear a coherent thesis behind all the violence. Unlike most of today's media, the violence was an integral part of the plot.

This string of flower pictures is interrupted by a car wreck picture. I think this car might belong to the wrecking yard nearby. Or maybe this was a stolen car which had been stripped and dumped onto the street.
I went to Farmer's Market and shopped by sense of smell. At one point, I could smell basil but I couldn't see it. Then I saw one of the vendors just pulling a new batch of basil out of her truck. With basil like that, I had to buy it. I"ll make pesto tonight.

After I took the picture of the stripped car, the cat did something cute so I had to take another picture of her.

What is that thing on the back of that motorcycle? The only thing I can think of is that it is a cat carrier. Or maybe a small dog carrier. My cat barely tolerates a trip in the car. I can't imagine the sounds she would make on the back of a motorcycle.
This site has had a steady stream of cat pictures and photos of flowers in my garden. That's because I've been carrying my laptop around a lot recently. I'm not willing to carry laptop and camera so my photo-taking-opportunities are limited to when I'm home in the evening.

June 6
It's another cat picture, this time with a stuffed animal that kitty isn't so sure is really her friend.

June 7
This is an afghan I'm almost done knitting. This is made from alpaca yarn.
BART is threatening to go on strike next month. This will affect my commute. However, there is an advantage to living in a city with several public transit agencies that don't coordinate very well: when one goes on strike, the commute still works.

June 8
This is an action shot of the cat sitting next to some flowers out of my garden.
I combined a cat photo with a flower photo. The only thing left is to put knitting in the frame and I'll have covered all the usual blog topics except for food.

June 9
I have about a dozen green tomatoes in my garden.

This is the cat next to the scratching post that she ignores.

I found this on eBay. It fits, more or less.
I'm scowling. I seem to do that a lot in pictures.
I baked two loaves of bread today: sourdough and a black bread.

June 12
Some of this is last night's rain (???) and some of it is from the irrigation system. I didn't imagine it would rain so I didn't turn off the irrigation system.
This is the largest green tomato in my garden. At this point, I have almost 30 green tomatoes.

This is the mural on the back of a friend's house.

The gladiolas are blooming in my garden.

This is one of a few yarn sculptures which are scattered around the Mission.

This is the cat, overseeing what I'm doing with the computer.
It rained today. This year's weather is just strange. We're not used to seeing rain in June.

San Francisco has some strange 'roadside attractions.' This giant sundial is in a neighborhood that looks like it could be a set for a happy movie based in suburban America. This neighborhood doesn't look like San Francisco. Then there is the giant sundial.
This neighborhood used to be a racetrack - before they outlawed gambling within city limits.

Here it is Saturday night and my big excitement is doing my taxes. I had to get an extension and now it's time to file. I have incentive. I'm getting a hefty refund. The process is just painful.
In the morning, I did a walk around my favorite San Francisco stairs: The Harry Street stairs.

June 19
I took an early morning walk around Noe Valley. I went up Elizabeth Street at 7am. I saw others, like me, looking for some early morning exercise. Then I saw the people who went home with someone the Saturday night before but in the day light, they regretted the action and didn't want to stay for breakfast. One man, in rumpled suit sans tie, looked particularly flustered as he searched for his car.
Then I saw the man carrying two cups from Tully's Coffee. I thought that was probably an established relationship where he was bring coffee to his mate.
Finally, there are the people who's dates went well enough that they want to see each other again. Those are the people who show up at Savor for brunch later in the morning.

June 20
This is a loaf of bread that didn't turn out too well. The rising cycle was interrupted by a trip to the ER for someone (not me) to get an epinephrine shot. Allergic reactions can be kinda scary.

June 21
I've joined the 'Stuff on my Cat' fad. What better to pile on a cat other than yarn?

June 22
I have one ripe tomato!

June 23
I want a house with a turret.
This afternoon, I was knitting while sitting in a waiting room. The receptionist asked me what I was knitting, expecting an answer like 'hat, sweater or scarf.' I said, "Penguin." She didn't quite know what to make of that.

The tomatoes in my garden are doing great.

Sometimes the cat likes to explore the garden.

June 26
This is Gay Pride weekend in San Franciscco. It turns out to be the best time to go to Safeway. The place was deserted.
I piled yarn on the cat.

June 28
We took a walk around the Forest Hills neighborhood.
I pick many of my books and movies from hearing an interview on Fresh Air. Several years ago, I heard an interview with someone associated with the movie, Space is the Place with Sun Ra. The movie went onto my list of movies to rent someday.
'Someday' came today. This was one strange movie. Maybe it would have made sense if I knew more about Sun Ra. As it was, I was just confused by this guy standing around in a gold hat and gold robes. Every so often, there would be a musical interlude. Fortunatley, the movie wasn't very long.

This is in the inside of my imac. The machine got more RAM today.

June 30
Today was a day to organize. The office has been completely transformed. My yarn collection is in newly-labelled plastic bins. I still have a lot of yarn, although not as much as I used to have. I found some old projects that I need to finish.
