January 1
I seem to have a tradition of taking a picture of some plant in my garden on January 1.

January 3
This is the commute again.

January 5
I kinda like my commute.

January 6
This is tea. This is one of those fancy tea somethings (I don't know the technical term) which expands in a nice way. This kind of tea really needs a clear tea pot to be fully appreciated.

January 7
I bought two more copies of this movie. It's pretty silly. I'm going to send one copy to Sandwich Girl in Antarctica so they can play Bollywood Bingo.

January 8
I knit a cosy for my iPod Nano. This is linen. I think it will relax after I wash it. This is version 1.0 of a lace Nano cosy. As with most version 1.0s, there is some room for improvement.

January 9
This is about version 3.0 off my knit Flying Spaghetti Monster. I think this design will work better than the other ones.

January 10
This is the final result. I'll be writing up this pattern. It's a VERY simple pattern. Because some people have a pathological fear of double pointed needles, no dpns are required in this pattern. My goal was to come up with an easily replicated design that anyone can make. I think this is it.
More terms used to find this website: "trebouchet" is still in the top three although it isn't #1 anymore. I'm relieved that "medic alert bracelets" is no longer in the top 10 although it is in the top 20. The "medic alert bracelet" reference on this site is a bar activity, not anything to do with a real medic alert bracelet. "how to felt yarn in a front loader washing machine" makes sense with all the knitting & felting I do in my front loading machine. In fact, that Flying Spaghetti Monster on the left spent time in my front loading washing machine. "selling handknit items" probably goes to some of my knitting rants. "octopus washing machine" is probably a reference to my knitted octopus. "7 foot bookshelf" probably went to how I put a 7 foot bookshelf in my car. Other terms that amused me: "brakes are a good thing martha", "flying spaghetti monster knit hat", "exlax for racoons", "interesting things to know about january", "reverse mullet hair", "a potato walks into a bar", "who took a cow inside a courthouse", "voluptuous porn"

While many bulbs are starting to break the surface in my garden, the Cala Lillies are the only things blooming at the moment.

I decided that Friday the 13th should be a High Holy Day for Pastafarians. Accordingly, I hosted a Transubstantiation Dinner aka. Spaghetti Dinner. I baked a loaf of whole wheat sourdough bread, made some spaghetti, marinara sauce with meatballs on the side, a green salad and an apple crisp for dessert. Under the apple crisp, we added a word, "knowledge" so everyone eating the apples would see knowledge. At least, that's the way it's supposed to work in the Bible. After dinner, we watched a Creationist video about how the earth really is 6,000 years old. Then we watched some of John Safran vs. God. This is my new favorite Australian TV series.

January 14
This is another Flying Spaghetti Monster in progress. I knit this much while watching the Creationist video last night.

January 15
This is the Flying Spaghetti Monster after being sewn together but before being thrown in the washing machine.
I have a new favorite Catholic priest, Father Bob. I've been listening to his podcast on my commute.

This is another lily in my grden.
I just found this page about my favorite soap opera, Passions.

January 20
This came in the mail today. I won an auction on eBay for this back issue of McCall's Needlework. This is the issue with the funny looking ski masks. Two of them are visible in this picture.

I think this looked like a good idea in the 70s. Now it's dated. Technology doesn't age well. I think that building technology into a wall isn't a good idea.
I managed to kill my keyboard by spilling a can of Diet Coke on top of it. Oops.

January 22
This is my current knitting project: pieces of cubes. I'm knitting a bunch of 'blocks' for a child recently adopted by a co-worker.
I've been on an eBay binge this weekend but I think I'm over it. After winning 10 auctions and doing two 'buy it now' things, I'm done. The damage (including shipping) was under $100. I bought a variety of old knitting magazines & patterns. The dates range from 1939 to 1969. This should keep me busy.

January 23
This is my next Flying Spaghetti Monster.

January 25
In attempt to salvage my keyboard, it took a trip through the dishwasher. Here, the keyboard is drying. It didn't work. I had to get a new keyboard.

January 26
This is a series of old Macintosh computers in various states of repair.

January 27
This is my pile-of-block-piecs. The next step is to sew them together around blocks of foam.
In other news...I guess this had to happen. I've started watching a lot of Bollywood movies. I also keep up on a soap opera, Passions. Today, they collided. Passions did a Bollywood-style dance scene as a part of one of the character's fantasies. While I found it entertaining to see the crossover, the Passions choreography wasn't up to Bollywood standards. The music reminded me of something like Kum Ba Ya meets 70s pop.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster now has meatballs!

That blank spot is the niche we just bought. This is a niche in the Columbarium. I guess this is some kind of committment.
Usually, at Chinese New Year, my neighborhood sounds like a war zone from all the firework.s. This year, there was nothing. I think the rain helped.

These are the blocks after being sewn together but before their first trip through the washing machine.
