Crow Bar - 401 Broadway

The First Annual Do-It-Yourself Dive Bar

One problem with living in this city is there's simply too much to do! The biggest challenge with scheduling the ol' Dive-Bar outings is dancing around other people's events, particularly those that I want to attend myself. This week is no different, because Reverand Al from the L.A. Cacophony Society (since retired) is giving a talk at City Lights book store in North Beach tomorrow.

I was originally planning to help out with someone else's idea at a bar in the Mission, but it required more preparation than I had time for, and it would be geographically far away from City Lights if anyone wanted to also go there. So as a compromise I think we'll go to the Crowbar on Broadway (it isn't a true dive-bar, but THEY'd like to think so!) which is two blocks from City Lights. Unfortunately, I don't have any spare activities sitting around that I can organize on short notice. So here's the challenge:

The First Annual Do-It-Yourself Dive-Bar!

At the rear of the Crowbar are plenty of small tables, which can be used for writing, drawing, watch repair, or anything else that you can come up with. Unfortunately, the sound system can be loud, so conversation is limited to the table itself. But you're all invited to suggest activities to the rest of the group, and we'll see what happens. And we can accommodatemultiple activities, so don't think you need to compete over ideas! Bring playing cards or drawing paper or small two-stroke engines that can be used to motorize weird sculptures.

Please feel free to speak up here and toss out dumb things we can do, and everyone can show up to turn those dreams into reality. Bonus points if it's somehow food-related, to tie into Al's presentation at City Lights. And remember that there's always drinking when all else fails.
