Zeitgeist - 199 Valencia

Model Making & Modifications

And now, for Josh's benefit:

MODEL MAKING AND MODIFICATING

Remember Big Daddy Roth's Beatnik Bandit? Or the Revell '66 Harley Shovelhead? Or maybe a Tamiya P-51 Mustang? Well, run down to your local hobby shop and pick up a model kit, and bring it to Zeitgeist, one of San Francisco's best gear-head bars. Build that Chopped and Channeled '51 Merc that you've always wanted but couldn't afford to insure, all at 1/24 scale. And since there will be plenty of beer at hand, you can undertake some radical modifications that most model-builders wouldn't consider, like twin Hemi-engined VW bugs, or a Cadillac hearse with tank treads.

Look up 'Hobby & Model Supplies' in the yellow pages to locate a store near you, and remember to pick up an X-Acto knife and plenty of glue. Yes, modelling glue... the kind that allowed any teenager to escape into a hazy fantasy world where army men had five arms and Corvette Stingrays grew gun turrets... Look for the geeks hunched over their creations at the tables out back, holding a drying axle assembly in one hand and a pint glass in the other.
