Dysfunctional Family Circus Caption Writing
|
We all know that The Biggest Shopping Day Of the Year (tm) is coming up, but the day before happens to be this minor holiday called Thanksgiving. Many of us will be coerced to head 'home' and join our families for a stressful reunion with our loved ones and not-so-loved kin. If your household isn't up to the Bill Keane standards of proper Christian behavior, then you might want to take the edge off the impending gathering by writing up sarcastic captions for old Family Circus comics in a gritty North Beach saloon. We'll be in what's claimed to be San Francisco's oldest bar, and will have Family Circus panels mounted on a blank sheet of paper. This activity is in honor of the old DFC Internet site (since shut down by King Syndicate's lawyers) where YOU write the captions under the comics. Give Dolly that seasoned hooker's vocabulary that never made it into print. Slam a few shots of Wild Turkey and pretend you're Jeffy, or PJ, or even Barfy! (If anyone in the bar asks who's committing all these flagrant copyright violations, simply reply, 'Not Me', or 'Ida Know'.) Drink up, and be thankful that your father doesn't chronicle your embarrassing childhood in over 1500 papers worldwide.
