New Year's Resolution Breaking Contest
|
There's nothing like the turnover of an arbitrarily-based calender system to instill a tenuous sense of responsibility in people. Many choose the beginning of the new year as an opportunity to quit smoking, lose weight, stop beating their spouse, whatever. We'll set a personal goal that's bound to go over well with the incurable Dive-Bar alcoholics; you guessed it - to quit drinking! Except this is one resolution we expect will get trounced within the first ten minutes of its establishment. To make things interesting, we'll turn this into an anti-drinking game. Eveyone buys a beer, or shot, or their favorite cocktail, and places it in front of them. No one is allowed to touch their drink, so you'll all have to sit there and pretend you're teetotaling. But then if the temptation becomes too much for someone, they can slug it down provided they buy a new round for everyone, including themselves. Now everyone else will have two drinks in front of them. The next person to give in can finish their rounds (along with the now-liberated first resolution-breaker), but has to buy a third drink for everyone, which gets added to the lineup. This goes on until everyone breaks their resolutions, gets trashed, or drops out, whichever happens last. At the end of the night make sure to have one last toast to Bill W. and Dr. Bob, who bring you this event.
