Ruby Room - 132 14th St, Oakland

Jigsaw Puzzle Night

What's more fun than trying to complete a complicated jigsaw puzzle in a bar? Doing it in a *really* dark bar! That's what we'll be doing at the famous Ruby Room in Oakland, where everyone feels like they're hanging out in a photography darkroom. The lights are red, the floors are red, the drinks are red, and everything else is up for grabs because we've never seen them under normal lighting conditions. Bring your rose-tinted glasses and imagine that everything is just fine.

Pick up a jigsaw puzzle at a local hobby shop, toy store, or thrift store and see how many pieces you can lose in the first half hour. Also bring a flashlight if you want to find your way around the joint. It's pretty goddam dark in there!

(Note, this is also a great place to stop by if you've just had your pupils dilated for an eye exam, or if you have a few 8 x 10 prints that you need to develop.)

Look for the people in the back dressed in red, squinting at puzzle pieces.
