Attic Club - 3336 24th St
Funny Food Day
|
The Mission District is known for its vast variety of foods, including many that are not available anywhere else in the U.S. A visit to the local grocery stores will reveal produce or meat products that no one here seems to be able to identify, at least those brought up on mainstream 'Merican diets. But the real adventure is to actually buy something you've never seen before and then bring it for everyone to try. It's good to do this in a bar because: 1) You'll have a strong drink handy to wash whatever the hell you just put in your mouth down. 2) There's a chance that the alcohol may kill any germs or parasites found freeloading on the thing that you ate. 3) After a while you'll be too drink to notice anyway. We'll meet at The Attic on 24th Street, which is right near BART, but if you can't come up with anything before heading in, you might try getting off at 16th Street and walking down Mission to see what's available. Look for stores with crude pictures of smiling animals on their signs, and chances are they'll have strange meat doo-dads available. Get enough for everyone, and use your ammunition to win free drinks on dare-exchanges with others. Bring along some antacids if you think you'll need 'em. WARNING: NO DURIAN WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE BAR! THIS WILL BE A DURIAN-FREE EVENT!
