Odeon Bar - 3223 Mission St.
Knitting Rumble
|
What happens when the Dive-Bar Neer-do-wells join the SF Knitting Circle (Mission Auxiliary), and they descend upon the Odeon's resident Stitch-n-Bitch crew? Who knows - we've never done it before. But you can bet your boots that the yarn will fly! Whether you knit in the English, Continental, or elusive Rosie Grier NFL style, you can be sure to pick up a few stitches and maybe even purl a little snoogie for your grandma between swigs of PBR. We'll be comparing wound steeks, mitered double-decreases, lace balls with Mexican insertions, and other exciting techniques that you normally don't get a chance to see performed in a bar setting. Since the Labor Board didn't fine the dive-bar sweatshop for last week's renegade sewing shift, we can safely expand our textile skills in this One-Time-Only knitting extravaganza. If you're just beginning, bring along your needles and wool and get tips from people who actually know what the hell they're talking about. If you're already deep into a project, relax in the Odeon's ample clip-on lighting and stay afterwards for a free cheesy movie. Even if you have no interest in any of this, show up anyway and see if you can make Flash knit his brow. Please note: due to insurance concerns, we must insist that NO CATS WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE BAR!
