This is a bit of a departure for the Dive-Bar crew. We're actually going to attend someone else's event, which happens to take place in a bar. It's called 'Theology On Tap', a series of meetings that the Catholic church organizes to reach out to otherwise blase members. Every week they get together to discuss religion while drinking, which is arguably more interesting than getting together to discuss religion while calling the IRS for a refund update (ref: the now-defunct 'Theology On Hold' group).

This Tuesday the San Francisco archdiocese is presenting a topic called 'What Would Jesus Drink'. That title might simply be a clever ploy to get the attention of smart-asses such as us. But the speaker is William Countryman, who has an interesting view of church authority and practiced dissidence. It could be quite enlightening, or it might be a bust, but we'd be remiss to not at least see how this particular topic is handled. And the location is not too far from Buca di Beppo, if we want to go hang out in the Pope Room afterwards.

The Theology On Tap group meets at 7 PM, and the speaker start at 7:30. We can of course arrive earlier to get in the proper 'spirit' of things, if you know what I mean...
