S & T's Tiki Bar
Vintage Porn Craft Night
|
Ed. note: Ok, so it's now two weeks in a row that we're not going to a real bar. But this outing has been in the works for over a month, whereas the Guardian thing came up with no advance notice. This coming Tuesday will be at a private house, sponsored by Angry Sarah and (No-clever-nickname-yet) Tracy. Read on... Vintage Porn Craft Night It's time for more arts 'n' crafts. And you don't even have to be able to draw clowns badly; all you'll need is a lampshade and some porn. Yes indeedy, it's the Vintage Porn Craft Night extravaganza! Remember when you were a kid (or maybe when your parents were kids) and you (or them) used to look at dirty magazines that didn't even show pubic hair? The kind where voluptuous women had 'bosoms' and the backgrounds were mostly velvet curtains or bearskin rugs? By today's standards such imagery would barely tip a PG-13 rating, but back then....Va-Va-Voom! We're going to bring back those naughty days of 'girlie mags' by supplying a big stack of 1970's era Playboys that you can cut up and make into craft projects. Sample ideas include Create-your-own-storyboard, Mix-n-Match Celebrity Collages (think of Martha Stewart's head pasted onto a leather queen, or John Ashcroft standing in for Hugh Hefner), or Porn Lampshades like this one: http://www.parody.org/goose/divebar/bob/pages/P8060093.html If you can't handle the creative imperative you can always just sit around and leer at the pictures, pretending that you're only 'reading the articles'. A bonus of the 70's era are the outrageous fashion ads, which will probably spawn their own twisted activity. And if you want to bring your own smut, try to make sure that it's at least as old as you are. We will also supply some booze at our Tiki Bar. Not a full assortment, but enough to hurt a few of you. Vodka, rum, gin, beer...Decent brands - i.e., not Grey Goose, but Stoli and/or Skyy. Feel free to bring your own faves. If you want some of the single malt, bring something to trade. We'll have tonic and seltzer and cranberry juice and OJ; other mixers are welcome. We have two blenders if you want to go Hawaiian.
