I took another City Guides walk. First, a morning stroll down two blocks of Maiden Lane. Second, a brisk, history filled walk through Chinatown.
The Maiden Lane walk goes all of two blocks. No buildings survive from the period when Maiden Lane was a notorious place of prostitution. Everything was destroyed in the 1906 fire and quake. Still, the history is interesting.
Chinatown....
One of the lions guarding the Gate to Chinatown off Grant Ave. This is the tourist's part of Chinatown.
I wish I remembered where this alley was.
Second picture is stuff for sale at a storefront (sidewalk-front?) on Stockton Ave, the Real Chinatown.
