A Trip to the Dump

Here's a trip to the Dump (ok, technically speaking, it's a transfer station but I call it a dump). After touring the dump, we visited the neighboring Sculpture Garden.

I went to see the Open House for the Artist in Residence program at the dump (=transfer station). Next to the studio, was a huge building filled with garbage.

Here are pictures of some of it.

Here I am, doing my Vanna White imitation.

There were also big tools, like thesecranes.

More garbage...notice that the garbage is being misted. I'm guessing this is to both keep the dust down and to encourage decomposition.
There were also seagulls flying around in this building. I don't think any are visible in these photos.
This is what's at end end of one of those big crane things...a big pincer thing. I guess they use this to move around the garbage.
On the left, see the control box for the crane. The image on the right is taken from outside the building.
Later in the evening, they turned the lights on. Now the giant building of garbage looks like it's being lit from within.
This is more garbage, from another entrance.
