Legion of Honor

July 1

Outside the Legion of honor.

July 2

We went to the Zoo on Free Zoo Day along with all the summer camp kids.

I found this tree more interesting than the animals.

July 3

I made a trivit.

In the evening, I went to Hospice for a busy night when a lot of people were asking for a lot of different things.

July 4

I made fingerless gloves.

4th of July is not a fun holiday in my neighborhood. My neighbors like to blow things up. On this holiday and Chinese New Year, they set off a large number of fireworks and things that go BOOM in the streets. At least this year, there wasn't a fire near my house.

July 6

My garden is doiing great.

We went shopping for dishwashers, today. How's that for dull? There was serious consideration to trying to fit a dishwasher into the back of my Honda del Sol. Better sense prevailed and we didn't do it.

July 6

This Barbie race car was sitting out with someone's trash on trash day. We took it home.

The axle has been repaired with duct tape a few times. The body has seen much use. Still, it may make an interesting demo car for the Bernal Hill Soap Box races.

Next to the car, see the Donut Racer, a circular saw entry for the Power Tool Drag races.

July 7

New person at work so we went out for Jamaican food.

July 8

I won the jury duty lottery. Not only did I have to call in, I had to actually appear at the courthouse. On the way there, I saw a huge construction site.

After many hours of sitting in the Jury Assembly room, they sent me home. I never even saw the inside of a court room.

July 8

This dog is blind in the right eye. Although you can't tell from looking, the dog is Jewish. What would you name a black, one eyed Jew? Sammy David Jr. That's the dog's name.

This was the coming out party for the dog. We went to Mad Dog in the Fog for a Dive Bar gathering.

July 11

Nuts, washers and bolts being sorted.

July 11

Morning at the Bayshore train station. I especially appreciated the light breaking through the clouds on the hi

July 11

Henna'd hands

July 11

This was across the street from a friend's house. We borrowed an SUV to pick up a dishwasher. Dishwashers are surprisingly light. I was pleasantly surprised to discover getting this up the stairs wasn't much difficulty at all.

July 11

On the way back from picking up the dishwasher, we passed a cemetary. There were rows and rows of grave stones, separated from the world of the living by a fence.

July 11

I came home to find this on the table. It's a can of food service grade gelatin, a tube (the kind usually used for blood samples) with red food coloring, and instructions for making 7 gallons of jello.

We made 14 gallons of jello. There are some not insignificant logistical difficulties with making 14 gallons of jello in a home kitchen. Boiling that much water takes a long time. Finding that much space in the refrigerator is also a challenge. Just finding containers to hold this much jellow was a challenge as well as finding a mixing container.

July 12

top rack of the new dishwasher with a cow inside

July 12

Fiasco of a 'dinner party' in progress.

July 13

Tree in Golden Gate Park.

After being too late to get into the Concert Meadow for a Stern Grove show, we went for a picnic in Golden Gate Park.

Later, we went to a BBQ at a friend's house

July 13

Kitty playing in her new playhouse, the dishwasher box. She seems to like it best when there is catnip inside.

July 14

Final touches on the dishwasher plumbing installation.

July 15

The first load of dishes...

July 16

This is a lousy picture...no, I wasn't driving. This was supposed to be a picture of where the tow truck took to the air, bounced across several lanes of northbound Hightway 280, over another guardrail and down another 40 feet to land on top of a Rangerover. This was an unusual accident.

I've seen another accident in this place before. This is the on/off ramp from 280 to Alemany. As Iwas coming home from my hospice shift one night, I came off 280, up the hill and around the corner to see a stalled car in the left lane. The car had been rear ended a couple times. Someeone else had stopped and was trying to slow down traffic. Someone else had called 911. I parked my car ahead of the stopped car, walked back and tried talking with the driver. He was still in the car and a little shaken up but he seemed OK. He was oriented as to time & place. There were no visible injuries. If he had hit his head, there wasn't any sign of it. I waited until the police arrived and then went home.

July 18

Bayshore train station is under construction. As it is now, there aren't any barriers to someone running across any portion of the tracks. This evening, there were a couple San Mateo officers out herding people across the tracks as the trains came through.

July 18

Bayshore train station again...this time a view of the fog coming over San Bruno Mountain.

July 19

These are gladiolas from my garden. I'm seeing a lot of color in my garden this year,

July 19

We went to a 'wake' at Land's End Beach which might have actually been China Beach. Whatever it was, the weather was perfect. This picture is from the walk back up the cliff (with conveniently placed steps).

July 19

After leaving the beach, we took a walk around Sutro Heights park.

July 20

I made another addition to my strangely shaped creature collection. This is Gus Garlic.

July 21

More Bayshore train station...the clouds this morning were spectacular. This picture, especially with the utility pole in the midddle, doesn't do the sky justice.

July 23

More in my garden...

July 24

While I was at hospice, D called and asked if I could park on the street tonight. The garage was occupied. I came home to find this, a giant platform bed. And the house smelled of linseed oil.

July 25

We ran some errands on the Peninsula. On the way back, we found this character weaving across lanes, going VERY slowly in the fast lane (when she managed to stay within her own lane), chatting on the cell phone and scribbling on her Palm Pilot.

July 26

Kinda looks like a turbine...this is a bagel with cream cheese, red onion and tomatoes from the garden

July 28

This picture really doesn't do this justice. This was some eerie morning light.

July 29

Dive Bar is always fun.

July 30

My garden...

July 31

More commute fun...

. I have a question.

If you're here looking at these pages, who are you and how did you get here? I am very curious about who comes to these pages. If you're reading this, could you drop me a note and let me know who you are & what brought you here? Thanks!
