14 gallons of gelatine

I got a call at work on Friday afternoon. "were you planning on going to the grocery store tonight after work? Don't. We need the refrigerator space."

We needed the refrigerator space to make 14 gallons of jello for jello wrestling at Dada Fest.

There are some not insignificant logistical difficulties with making 14 gallons of jello in a home kitchen in less then 24 hours.

I came home to find two of these on the kitchen table: 1) can of food service gelatin
2) vacuum tube (of the type usually used for blood samples) full of red food coloring

3) instructions

For molds, we used beer boxes lined with 3 layers of garbage bags. Remember, this didn't have to be pretty or edible. This is for wrestling.

We boiled water in large stock pots on the stove.

We mixed in a large plastic pail.

We did the pouring in the bathtub.

We let the jello-to-be sit in the bathtub until it stopped steaming These are the instructions

After emptying the refrigerator, we put the jello-to-be in the fridge overnight. Some went into the freezer 'cause it was taking too long to set and there wasn't anymore room in the refrigerator Yeah, I had an exciting Friday night...sitting home & watching water boil.
