Today I went shopping for a coat. I wanted a heavy wool coat, the kind one might wear in Utah in winter. July is coming and I now work in downtown San Francisco so I needed a warm coat. Yes, I know it's June and most stores have their summer shorts on sale. Instead, I went looking for a coat.

I did find one. Burlington Coat Factory kept true to its name and had a nice wool coat with a removeable lining. I'll take the lining out in December, when it's warm. For July/August, the fog months, I'll need the exta warmth.

I spent the rest of the afternoon drilling holes. I discovered that I'm good at drilling holes. In fact, I have a lot of extra holes in my walls now. I am not so good at drilling holes in the right places. My living room curtain rod is off by a half inch. Time to drill more holes to fix that little problem.

In other errands today, I bought a hub so I can wire every room in the house for Internet access. Never mind that I only have one computer capable of running Ethernet right now...I'm planning for the future...and more hole drilling. Last night, I called my friend Timo and asked him which hub to buy. Cyberian Outpost (www.outpost.com) had a 4 port hub and an 8 port hub. I wanted 6 usable ports so I'd need to either buy 2 4 port hubs or one 8 port hub. I was agonizing over which to buy since the 4 port hub was available for overnight shipping while the 8 port hub would take 4-5 days to ship. Why wasn't the 8 port hub also available for overnight shipping? I was frustrated. Timo pointed out to me that I could also go to Frye's/CompUSA/OfficeDepot and buy an 8 port hub without waiting for shipping. I hadn't considered that possibility. I think this is a sign that I spend too much time on the Internet. I took Timo's advice and bought the hub at OfficeDepot today. Now I'm trying to figure out how to run a cable between the upstairs and the downstairs...where's the best place to drill this hole? And if I drill too many, will the floor fall through?
