I have a new garage door!
It came with some drama, however.
Automatic Garage Door had me scheduled for a Wednesday door installation. They had a cancellation and called to see if Monday would work for me, instead. That was fine by me. I just had to get a key to them early Monday morning.
At 7:30AM, I was at Automatic Garage Door, handing over the key to the house. There were four of them in the loading area, enjoying their morning coffee. Suddenly, the woman who runs the office dropped her coffee and almost fell. Two of the men caught her and the third went to call 911. We were certain it was a heart attack or stroke. The ambulance came & I left. There wasn't much I could do other than be in the way. One of the guys said not to worry, they would get my garage door installed today. I told him it really didn't matter. Taking care of their coworker was more important than my garage door.
I called Automatic Garage Door later in the afternoon and asked what had happened. Was the office manager ok? She had been the one to show me all the different models of garage doors so I'd met her once before this morning. The woman who answered the phone had to think this was a little bit strange to get a random phone call asking about her coworker. It turned out ok. They had taken her to the hospital & said it wasn't a heart attack. Instead, it was something to do with her esophagus. She was already home with her kids.
Well, there was still a mystery about my garage door. Had it been successfully installed? When I got home from work, there it was! A brand new garage door with an automatic opener. Now the electrical part inside is jerry rigged. I need to get that electrician out here ASAP to get things running the right way. I don't like the look of the extension cord draped along the interior beams of the garage. I'd like a real electrical outlet in place. Oh, and I have to paint it. I guess painting the garage door, and installing the shower enclosure, are this weekend's projects.
