Whilst at Mactivity...

Martin: Your mother has a Web page?
Me: Yes.
Martin: Your mother has a Web page?
Me: Yes.
Martin: Your mother has a Web page?
Me: Yes.

(he kept repeating this)

He didn't quite believe it so we followed his link & found Mom's Web Page. The graphic was a bit slow in loading. He immediately started clicking around in it, trying to manipulate the picture. After all, if Mom has a web page, seems like Mom's web page should do QuickTime VR.

Then he saw the Egan links. I said something about Mom writing a book about my murdering ancestors.

Martin: Your what?
Me: Murdering ancestors. Don't get on my bad side.
Martin: A murder?
Me: Yeah, see Howard was married to Tamson but she had an affair with James & had a kid so when Howard found out out,
Howard shot him & killed James. But it's ok. Howard was acquitted.
Martin: (looking astonished) what? and you put this on the Web?
Me: yeah, she's writing a book
Martin: and this is real? You put this on the Web?
Me: I'm descended from Howard. But I'm not sure if Tamsen is one of my ancestors...see, Howard had several wives & I'm not
sure which one I'm descended from.
Martin: he what?????? How many wives?
Me: Just 3. Not too many. That's pretty common at that time.

Martin just stood there looking amazed.

Me: well, then there's the James Melville thing. See, he claimed his father was Melville but it was probably really Phillip. His
mother had to go to the Church court & account for having children out of wedlock.
Martin: what???? and you put this on the Web?

(do you sense a pattern here in Martin's remarks? He was truly amazed & astonished that this info was up on the Web).

Me: Well, it was 100 years ago.
Martin: oh.

I think he thought I was in the running for the daytime talk show circuit. Maybe he's right. Next time you turn on Geraldo, he could be doing a show on the horrible trauma of being descended from murderers.
