Red Bowler #2

I made another red bowler hat. I think I left the last one on top of the car.

I used the same Fiber Trend pattern with one strand of Lite Lopi. Because the last one turned out too small for m head, I made a large this time.

I'm not so fussy about watching the felting progress. I just throw it in the washing machine, a front loader, with whatever jeans or towels I happen to be washing. It takes three trips to felt enough to where I want to wear the hat. Between washing, I let the hat dry with a mixing bowl inside for shaping. I put the hat on top of a vase when the hat is drying.

2005.10

This is before being felted.

The hat is on the large side before being thrown in the washing machine.

This is after two trips through the washing machine.

This shrank dramatically from the original hat to the post-washing version.

This is the final result. I think it might need a fourth trip, although I've been wearing it.
